Summary

  • Physical Assets represent real equipment, tools, materials, consumables or other controlled items used in work execution.
  • When linked to reports, selected asset data should be captured in the report revision snapshot so approved reports remain stable over time.

Action

What you can do

  • Register assets.
  • Organize assets by category or kind.
  • Connect assets to templates or report requirements.
  • Select assets during report execution.
  • Preserve selected asset information in report revision history.

Plan note

Physical Assets are intended for Enterprise workflows where equipment, tools or materials must be traceable in controlled reports.

Typical asset kinds

Examples include equipment, tools, materials, consumables and calibration blocks.

Different asset kinds may need different metadata, numbering and availability logic.

Why asset snapshots matter

If an asset's master data changes after a report is approved, the historical report should not silently change.

The report revision should preserve the asset information that was used when the report was submitted or approved.

Typical workflow

  1. Create or import the Physical Asset.
  2. Set category, kind and relevant metadata.
  3. Make the asset available for the relevant project or work order if required.
  4. Select the asset in the report.
  5. Submit the report.
  6. Preserve selected asset data in the report snapshot.
