Template validation

Use general validation rules that follow the report template.

Basic Validation

Summary

  • Template validation defines general rules for a report template.
  • These rules are useful when the same requirement applies every time the template is used.

What you can do

  • Require important fields.
  • Set general numeric limits.
  • Validate date windows.
  • Show warnings or blocking messages.

When to use template validation

Use template validation for stable rules that belong to the template itself.

Examples include required fields, general format expectations and standard numeric limits.

When not to use it

Do not create duplicate templates only because job-specific criteria differ. If the same report structure can be reused but acceptance criteria differ per Work Order, use Work Order-specific validation where available.

Typical workflow

  1. Open the template.
  2. Find the relevant field or table column.
  3. Add a required, numeric or date validation rule.
  4. Choose warning or blocking severity.
  5. Save the template.
  6. Test the rule in a draft report.
