Summary

  • This page answers common questions users may have when working with controlled reports.

Why can I not edit an approved report?

Approved reports are controlled documentation. Editing them directly would weaken revision control. Create a new revision instead.

Why do Readers only see approved revisions?

Readers normally need access to controlled information, not drafts or unapproved changes. If a newer draft exists, the Reader should still see the latest approved revision.

What happens when a template changes?

Draft reports may use updated template information depending on implementation and workflow. Submitted or approved revisions should rely on snapshot data so historical documentation does not silently change.

What is the difference between template validation and Work Order validation?

Template validation is general and follows the template. Work Order validation is job-specific and applies to a particular execution context.

Why use Scope of Work?

Scope of Work helps plan required reports before execution. This is useful when a Work Order requires several reports or repeated use of the same template for different execution steps.

Why use controlled PDF verification?

Controlled PDF verification lets a recipient check whether a PDF is current, superseded, withdrawn, invalid or unknown.
